There is a plethora of best website builder options available, but you don’t need ALL of them, just ONE. Should you go with beginner-friendly Site123 or an extensive platform like Wix? Well, let’s find out in my Site123 vs Wix comparison…
Site123 vs. Wix – Ease of use!
🏗️With Site123, you can only work with sections, and there are no drag-and-drop controls to move around elements freely. Everything feels more static, but it’s also really easy to use. Like, it took me maybe half an hour to have a complete website. Sure, Site123 can feel a bit limiting if you have a specific design in mind, but if you don’t, this approach is great for new users.
🏗️To give my personal Wix review on editing – I really like it. It gives so many different tools, elements, and sections to play with that, as a website builder, it is practically limitless. You get full drag-and-drop controls and an extensive free image gallery – I mean, you can even add snippets of your own code. However, Wix is also overwhelming at times. If I lose my train of thought, I sort of need to readjust to Wix editor again.
Wix vs. Site123 – Plans and Pricing
💰Next up, both providers have a few confusing pricing schemes. Like Site123, if you go to their pricing page right now, you’ll only see the free and the Premium plans. However, more plans are only visible once you start building a website. So the actual cheapest plan starts at around $8 a month if you go with a 36-month billing period. Site123 also allows you to select pay upfront for longer and save more – like paying for 10 years reduces the price to around $5 a month….
💰Each plan comes bundled with a free domain name, an SSL certificate, at least 10GB of storage capacity, bandwidth restrictions, and removes Site123 ads on your design. But here’s the second confusing thing… this plan, for basically $10 a month, still keeps one Site123 ad at the bottom of your page. It isn’t the end of the world per se, but it doesn’t really look good when establishing a business or a brand, does it?
💰Is Site123 worth it? Yeah, I would say the most value of the Site123 website builder lies in its Professional plan. For only $15 a month, you get 90GB of storage space, enough bandwidth for even larger projects, and no more ads on my design. With this plan, you can also use nearly all eCommerce features, so it’s a perfect choice for business.
💰Wix plans come with similarly restricted storage space, starting at just 2GB with the cheapest plan. It can be a bit too limiting for media-heavy websites. Though, all Wix plans have unmetered bandwidth and a free domain name with an SSL certificate. One thing to note about Wix pricing is that certain plans are available in different regions. If you visit the pricing page from Europe, you also get an even cheaper plan for around $5 a month. But this option isn’t really that viable since it’s really restrictive and still keeps Wix branding.
So, Site123 or Wix? Honestly, it’s hard to say – both builders come with a free trial and similarly priced plans. They both have great options for beginners and businesses. Personally, I would say that Site123 is for small projects, while Wix is the best website builder when you want to have full control.
