💰HostGator Plans and Pricing!

➡️ The first thing to note here – HostGator comes with unmetered bandwidth, free SSL, and a free domain name for 1st year. As for resources, storage space here is fast SSD type, but quite limited. The Hatchling plan is for 1 website and gives 10GB of storage space. Great for small projects, but that 10GB gets filled quite fast if you want to host high-quality photos or other media…

➡️ However, the website limit is even stricter. Sure I do understand that most users won’t host 25 projects on one account, but the name Business Hosting Plan sort of implies more than just a 3 website limit, right? Though there are some more caveats, like unlocking phone support and a full SSL certificate – you’ll need to upgrade to a more expensive plan. I get the SSL, but phone support, do people still call each other?

➡️ Okay, I’m joking, I actually quite like the differentiation between plans, but – it sort of makes the Hatchling option unusable. ➡️ It’s time to introduce you to Newfold Digital, a parent company of HostGator, Bluehost, and quite a selection of other internet brands. Naturally, most people hearing this immediately jump to the conclusion that the provider in this situation is just going to get worse…

➡️ But it’s more complex – first, nearly every provider you use is actually under some sort of parental company, it’s just the fact of whether they are honest about it or not. And Newfold doesn’t hide this information, it’s publicly available. Sure the prices have increased, but Newfold has gotten more expensive in the past few years, so if a corporation means better controls – I say why not? Especially when they fixed my main issue with HostGato

🧩 HostGator Improved Controls!

➡️ The old way of managing your website was mostly through HostGator cpanel. I have mixed feelings about cPanel myself – it’s not bad, but it can be confusing for beginners. Especially when it shows every tool and doesn’t organize them into easy-to-follow categories. And the new tabs… oh god, every time you click a tool that would require cPanel access, a new tab would open up… this went to absurd levels when I had to manage a few projects…

➡️ And now look, everything is done in the same tab, it’s quick and easy to follow. There is no upselling or random information that no user actually needs, all the menu items are neatly organized to the left menu, and you only get the most used tools upfront. Compare installing WordPress with cPanel, and with the new control dashboard… I think it’s clear to see which approach is unarguably better.
